In 1992, Cosimo and good friend Paolo Scoppio returned from a summer in Puglia with an idea to open a place in Toronto. Paolo’s family already imported southern Italian staples and Cosimo had experience bartending and working front of house. But neither of them had much of a plan. They had a family connection to a storefront on Queen West and they took it.

After drawing inspiration from the Neapolitan pizza tradition native to Naples, Pizzeria Libretto opened its Ossington location in August of 2008. We made a reservation very last minute but they didn’t have any space left so we put ourselves on the wait list. Italian Restaurants in Toronto Places. Shortly after we received a message that a table was available so we rushed over. We had the 5 cheese truffle pizza special and the duck confit, tiramisu and decaf café. The pizza dough was spectacular and the ingredients were well selected. Absolutely lovely.

Went here with a girlfriend for lunch. Didn’t know what a beautiful restaurants it would be until we arrived! Inside is very classy, clean and welcoming. Our food was delicious, we had the gnocchi and a Calabrese salad as the appetizer.
